SFA re-instate three staff sacked over Pope email

|

Hugh Dallas Celtic newsThe SFA have been forced to re-instate three members of staff sacked over sending an offensive e-mail about the Pope- but not shamed former referee chief Hugh Dallas.

The about turn by the Hampden hierarchy is another in a long list of embarrassments for the SFA who boldy promote all sorts of anti-discrimination policies including ‘Show Racism The Red Card.

Four office staff were sacked after an IT probe into abuse of the internal e-mail system came to light after it was revealed that Dallas had sent an e-mail linking the visit of the Pope to child abuse on the day of the Papal visit to Scotland.

The bigot from Bonkle had his claim for unfair dismissal rejected and is believed to be considering taking the SFA to an Industrial Appeal Tribunal which could prove highly damaging for both parties.

New SFA Chief Executive Stewart Regan has inherited the situation with speculation rife about the ‘canteen culture’ within the SFA amidst claims that anti-Irish and anti-catholic emails and jokes regularly get sent amongst employees.

Running alongside that issue Regan is attempting to implement the McLeish report which calls for an overhaul of the SFA’s and for the archaic committee structure to be overthrown.

The McLeish reports claimed that : “There is a great deal of sectional and vested interest at work at the expense of the health and well being of the overall game. Openness, transparency and accountability lacking.

“The game overall generates a great deal of indiscipline and a lack of respect for the rules and regulations of the game.

“Roles and responsibilities are confused and unproductive with the elected officials too involved in what is essentially the work of the Chief Executive and his management team.

“The committee structure may function for the benefit of the existing representatives but is ill-equipped and outdated and is not able to deal with the modern world of football and the speed with which events and issues emerge and have to be dealt with.”
