Celtic star Lewis Toshney was the victim of a brutal assault at home on Friday night.
Hours before he was due to play against Dundee United in a crucial league match the popular defender was the victim of some crazed clippers.
What started out as an attempt to trim his dark locks went badly wrong as the clippers took control and attacked the defender.
By the end of the sustained assault Toshney’s pride and joy was lying on the carpet with the defender left stunned and dazed.
19-year-old Toshney has made one first team appearance for Celtic this season, coming on as a substitute in the 3-0 win over Aberdeen at the start of the month.
Following on from that he was promoted into the Scotland u-21 squad for the recent international get together at Seamill.
Despite the barbaric attack Toshney was still able to line up for Celtic yesterday and helped his side to a 4-1 win over Dundee United at St Andrews University.
Toshney’s regular defensive partner Matty Hughes showed his true professionalism by refusing to be distracted by his new look team-mate and headed home his first goal of the season to put Celtic two ahead.
A spokesman for Strathclyde Police said: “Our investigations into this horrific incident are on-going.
A spokesman for the SFA Disciplinary Committee said: “Ah ha, we’ll definately get Lennon for this one.”
A spokesman for team-mate Callum Bagshaw said: “It wiznae me.”
