Dundee United v Celtic- game on, so far

|

Dundee United’s Tannadice pitch has passed an 8.15am pitch inspection for the noon clash with Celtic.

A statement on the club website said: “Today’s match against Celtic will go ahead after the referee declared the pitch playable following an early morning pitch inspection.

“The Referee will continue to monitor the situation as conditions change.”

The second part of that statement suggests that there is still a chance of the game being postponed- just over 3 hours from kick-off.

United have only played nine home SPL matches this season and are five fixtures behind the three clubs above them in the table.

A waterlogged pitch appears to be causing the concern but really should be something that an SPL club can cope with.

Across the road at Dens Park yesterday Dundee were able to play their game with Raith Rovers whilst St Johnstone’s home match with Aberdeen was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
