Gary Hooper on his Sebo moment

Derby day hero Gary Hooper has spoken out about his ‘Sebo’ moment against Dundee United.

In the closing stages at Tannadice a week ago the striker found himself one on one with United keeper Dusan Pernis but after taking a touch on the ball, stumbled, tripped up and fell head down onto the turf as the ball trickled by the post.

“It wasn’t my day in front of goal,” the striker told The Celtic View. “I had one goal disallowed which was annoying but what can I say about the other chance? I kicked the floor!

“I’ll take the slagging though, everyone was laughing at me even days after it happened. I don’t know when I’ll hear the last of it.

“I was so embarrassed I didn’t want to get up, I didn’t even touch the ball. It was a good laugh and at least I wasn’t going for a winner in the last minute.”

After his double against Rangers Hooper can do no wrong in the eyes of the support.

Some players can take their time to adjust to moving to Celtic but since he scored against Lyon in the Emirates Cup in July Hooper has looked perfectly at home in a Celtic jersey.

Neil Lennon put his faith in bringing in hungry young talent with something to prove with Hooper admitting that a youthful dressing room has helped him settle in after moving from Scunthorpe.

“I’ve never played in a side that’s full of so many young players,” he added. “The management are young as well and that makes it really easy to get on with them. We have a laugh in training and that’s part of the team bonding.

“I think that the youth in the side helped when I first came to Celtic because I wasn’t the youngest. There are quite a few younger than me so that’s worked out well.

“All the lads get on well and that’s important. If we keep doing what we’re doing we’ll have a good chance of winning this league.”
