Joe Jordan v Rino Gatusso 'head-to-head'

|

Joe Jordan Celtic newsRino Gatusso was involved in an amazing bust up with Joe Jordan after tonight’s AC Milan-Spurs Champions League clash.

Television cameras clearly showed the former Rangers midfielder putting the head in Jordan who played for Milan in the early eighties and had a spell as Celtic assistant manager.

Gatusso picked up a second half booking that rules him out of the return leg at White Hart Lane but could be in line for a lengthy suspension for his clash with Jordan which was viewed by a worldwide audience.

“I lost control,”  he admitted afterwards. “There is no excuse for what I did. I take my responsibilities for that.

“I was nervous. I didn’t want to argue with players and I did it with him, but I was wrong to do what I have done.”

Gatusso had earlier pushed Jordan in the face shortly after a shocking challenge from former Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini on Vedran Corluka that ended with the Spurs defender leaving the stadium on crutches.

“The tackle from Flamini was a horrendous tackle,” Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp said. “It was a sending off. He was two or three feet off the floor with his two feet raised.

“It was a leg-breaking tackle,” claimed Spurs boss Harry Redknapp. “He [Corluka] will have an x-ray tomorrow, I don’t think he has broken it but he could have done easily.”

Spurs took the lead through Peter Crouch and after surviving a late onslaught things got nasty after the final whistle.

Redknapp added: “I don’t know why it all got so silly. Gattuso had a flair-up with Joe Jordan. I don’t know why.

“He put his head into Joe’s face for some reason. It was crazy. He lost his head during the second half.”

You wonder where some Italian players would learn such attitudes and anger. To be such a bad loser you would think something may have influenced him earlier in his career to react to the situation.

Perhaps the early influence in Glasgow G51 may have an impact.

    punishment required!

The behaviour of the wee monkey spazz throughout the entire game was lamentable. He shouldn’t be allowed to kick a ball for Milan again. I’m sure Rangers would welcome him back with open arms to form a midfield partnership with Joof!
