Majstorovic ready for Rangers return

Neil Lennon is hopeful of having Daniel Majstorovic available for Sunday’s Scottish Cup clash with Rangers.

The Swede has missed Celtic’s last three matches with a hamstring strain but is likely to face Rangers on Sunday.

Charlie Mulgrew has proved himself to be a more than adaquate replacement for Majstorovic but the return to fitness of the former AEK Athens defender would give Celtic a boost at a crucial stage of the season.

After last night’s win at Aberdeen Lennon revealed: “We will have a couple of boys coming back, Glenn Loovens is training this week and hopefully Daniel Majstorovic will be back later on in the week as well.”

Even though Aberdeen played for 88 minutes with only ten men after Andy Consodine was red carded the partnership of Mark Wilson and Charlie Mulgrew looked secure.

Mulgrew has been outstanding since moving to centre-half with Lennon believing that the transformation is all down to confidence.

“Charlie has been exceptional over the last six weeks,” the Celtic boss admitted last night. “He’s really grown in to being part of the team.

“He feels like he deseves to be here now- it probably took him a little while to settle in after coming back here.

“Charlie has been really consistent and it’s the same with Mark Wilson. With the way that they’ve been playing I won’t lose any sleep if we have to go with those two on Sunday.”
