Neil Lennon: We're building not selling a team

|

Neil Lennon Celtic newsNeil Lennon isn’t fazed that his stars are catching the eye of English predators.

With Celtic topping the SPL and playing an exciting brand of football it was inevitable that Premiership clubs would be linked with some of his players.

Lennon’s judgement in the transfer market has been virtually faultless, recruiting a team from The Championship and various international outposts such as Israel and Honduras.

Emilio Izaguirre has been the subject of most speculation with the Honduran solving Celtic’s long standing left-back problem position.

Speaking to BBC Alba for tonight’s Club TV programme the Celtic boss says: “We really want to build this team rather than dismantle it. Any offers that come our way will be rebuffed.”

Describing his side’s development this season Lennon added: “There’s a great belief and they are answering a lot of questions.”

It would be a surprise if the major English clubs weren’t watching Celtic on a regular basis.

Izaguirre, Kayal, Ki and Gary Hooper will certainly have been on their scouting radar over the last year to 18 months.

Having proved themselves at Celtic there is less risk involved in attempting to take them into the Premiership.

Thankfully those players are on four year contracts which means that if they do go there will be no cut price deals and it’ll be Celtic that determine the timing of any transfers.
