Referee appointments this weekend

|

red card Celtic newsEuan Norris has been appointed to take charge of Sunday’s Motherwell v Celtic clash.

Norris is a fairly new name on the refereeing circuit and has already refereed two Celtic games this season.

The last one is likely to be one that he’ll wish to forget- the 4-0 win over Hearts last month.

After dishing out first foul cards to Mark Wilson and Emilio Izaguirre he allowed Ian Black away with just a yellow card for a shocking off the ball foul on Paddy McCourt.

At half-time in that match Jim Jefferies was forced into substituting Rudi Skacel apparently on the advice of the fourth official after the midfielder had picked up a first half booking for persistent fouling.

Stevie MacLean will take charge of the Rangers-St Johnstone match at Ibrox.

One welcome features of the latest round off appointments is the continuing absence of Willie Collum from the top matches.

Collum hasn’t had a single Celtic or Rangers match since his abysmal display in the Hamilton-Celtic match on January 10 which viewed like a manual on how not to apply the laws of the game.

That was Collum’s fourth Celtic SPL match of the season. On Saturday he’ll be administering his own interpretation of the game at the First Division relegation battle between Morton and Dundee.

Gary Hooper- more than a goalscorer

Collum perfoms like he wanted to replace Dallas as the “cheat in the seat”.

On that note, since I have always been vocal about how Iain Brines has always been extremely anti-Celtic, he has me astounded at his two recent performances in Celtic games where he actually showed that he really can be a good ref when not being biased against Celtic.

No doubt, his hate for Aiden Mcgeady is not a factor now McGeady has gone and I tip my hat to Brines for his performance on Sunday even if he could have red carded Bartley after only three minutes, and did book Kayal for absolutely nothing.

To be fair to Brines….he booked Spit the Dug for nothing as well …and he could have given a penalty against Big Dan ….as for Bartley….Stokes got away with an early shocker earlier in the season …..
I thought he had a very good game ..and yes I am a Celtic man….
    Just trying to be fair….
