Scott Brown in international injury scare

|

Scott Brown Celtic newsScott Brown has been withdrawn from the Scotland team to face Northern Ireland tonight.

Sky Sports have reported that the Celtic skipper suffered a groin strain in the warm up to the match with Wigan’s James McArthur brought in as his replacement.

Brown was named in the Scotland team selected by Craig Levein last night but will miss the match.

The extent of Brown’s injury will be a concern for Neil Lennon who has been full of praise for his captain’s contribution this season.

Celtic have been badly hit by injuries this season with Brown missing for more than two months due to a foot injury that required surgery.

Daniel Majstorovic returned to the team to face Rangers on Sunday after a two week absence with James Forrest currently out of action with a hamstring strain.

Lennon is hopeful of having Forrest available for Sunday’s game at Dundee United but the extent of his captain’s injury will be causing the Celtic boss most concern.
