Celtic’s u-19 side face Stenhousemuir tomorrow with a place in the semi-finals of the SFA Youth Cup at stake for the winners.

After a break of over two months Stevie Frail’s side have returned to action with convincing wins over Airdrie and Aberdeen to stay on course to repeat last season’s domestic double.

An intensive two week training stint in Turkey last month helped shake off any rustiness in the players with Frail delighted with the way that they have returned to action.

“We put them through a lot of physical work out in Turkey and they are feeling the benefits,” the Celtic coach explained.

“The first test should have been at home to Aberdeen but unfortunately that was postponed. Our first game back was against Airdrie and there was an edge to our play.

“All of the players are feeling the benefits of the work that they put in out in Turkey and are maintaining those standards.

“We’ve had a couple of tough games since we came back and have came through them well. At Aberdeen last week we changed the formation around a bit and that paid off with three good goals.

Jordan Lowdon Celtic news“All of the players in the squad have a role to play. The defence is very settled and we’ve got options to go with in midfield and attack.

“We’ll be going with our strongest team tomorrow and give Stenhousemuir the respect that they deserve to reach this stage of the competition. The semi-final is a big incentive for both teams.”

Tomorrow’s match kick’s off at 1pm at Lennoxtown and despite reports elsewhere is open to anyone to go along and watch.
