Vote SCOTT BROWN for Scottish Cup Player of the Round

|

Scott Brown Celtic newsScott Brown’s goal at Ibrox last Sunday and ‘Jesus-like’ celebration have had supporters smiling all week.

El Hadji-Diouf’s newspaper rants have added to the drama with the Blackburn reject bleating about the Celtic captain’s antics throughout the game.

If Diouf thinks that Brown gave him a hard time he’s in for quite a shock when he comes up against some of the rockets from Motherwell, St Mirren, Hamilton and Kilmarnock desperate for 15 minutes of fame from their dual with Diouf.

Brown’s equaliser against Rangers earned Celtic a replay to add to the ‘World Series’ of matches between Celtic and Rangers throughout February and March.

In a bid to embrace the growing world of social media the SFA have opened up a facebook poll to vote for the players of the tournament from the fifth round.

Jostling with Brown for the honour are Liam Craig, Jamie Ness, Craig Conway, Craig Dargo and Richie Foran.

It’s not clear whether President George Peat will hand over the prizes but two tickets for a quarter final tie are worth winning as well as getting Brown’s performance last Sunday recognised.

Brown missed Scotland’s midweek friendly against Northern Ireland but is hopeful of being fit to face Dundee United tomorrow.

“I had a tight left groin so I didn’t want to make it any worse,” he explained to the talent-nation website. “It must have been because I scored with my left foot against Rangers on Sunday – which doesn’t happen a lot.

“But I’ll be back in time for the United game this weekend. I just didn’t want to risk making it even worse and be forced out for a much longer period.

“Now I’m just looking forward to the game at Tannadice. I think we could take a lot from our performance at Ibrox last week but this is another really tough game.”
