Willo Flood returns from injury

Willo Flood made a successful comeback from injury last night helping Middlesbrough’s reserve side to a 1-0 win away to Leeds.

The midfielder suffered a dislocated knee-cap on the opening day of the season and was joined in last night’s reserve side by Stephen McManus.

Flood played for 59 minutes before being substituted and reported no ill effects after the match.

The former Celtic and Dundee United midfielder suffered the worst possible start to the season when he dislocated his knee-cap eight minutes into the defeat from Ipswich on the first day of the season.

Since then Tony Mowbray has replaced Gordon Strachan as manager and seems to have steered ‘Boro clear of the relegation zone.

Middlesbrough face Ipswich on Saturday with McManus expected to start his first match in four months following an ankle operation.
