Gary Hooper pulls out of England squad

|

Gary Hooper Celtic newsGary Hooper has been withdrawn from the England u-21 squad.

The Celtic striker was expected to make his international debut against Denmark on Thirsday but is one of five players to pull out through injury.

Hooper suffered a bad ankle injury during Celtic’s 1-0 Scottish Cup victory over Rangers on March 2 and has looked below par in his last two appearances after missing out on the 2-0 win over Hamilton Accies.

Jack Rodwell, Mark Davies, Henri Lansbury and Alex Smithies have also withdrawn from Stuart Pearce’s squad who also face Iceland on Monday night.

Despite those withdrawls Pearce will take a 26 man squad to Denmark for Thursday’s match.

Meanwhile James Forrest has been called into the Scotland u-21 squad that faces Belgium on Thursday night.

The winger has been in and out of the Celtic squad recently due to injuries but did make a substitute’s appearance away to Inverness Caley Thistle in last week’s Scottish Cup tie.

Shameful ignorance of Justice Minister Kenny MacAskill.
