Video Celts regular Tony Cassidy was as disappointed as any Celtic supporter about the cancellation of today’s match at Inverness.
Rather than just mump and moan he decided to contact the club and was pleasantly surprised at the detailed reply that he got from Operations Director Kenny Cameron.
The loss of a lucrative Sunday match in terms of hospitality in front of the Sky Sports cameras would have been a sore one for Caley Thistle to take but Cameron took time out to provide Tony with a full detailed breakdown of the circumstances that led to the postponement.
Dear Tony
Thank you for your note earlier today.
Like you we are also extremely disappointed that today’s game had to be cancelled.
With regard to your suggestion of the purchase of plastic sheeting we have in the past had covers but due to the very exposed location of our Stadium and with winds currently gusting at up to 60mph we are not entirely sure that this would have been the answer.
We took every precaution possible in the run up to today’s game and our ground staff worked tirelessly yesterday to ensure that the pitch was playable which indeed it was when we left yesterday evening at 7pm but the extremely inclement weather during the night was out with our control.
We fully understand that having to cancel any fixture undoubtedly gives rise to inconvenience for many fans both home and away and the decision by the referee at 8.10am this morning was not taken lightly I can assure you.
Thanks again for your note and we are sorry the game was off but we look forward to the rearranged game on Wednesday at 7-45pm and hope you will make it along.
