Mjallby- Lennon is in this job for the long run

|

Neil Lennon Celtic newsJohan Mjallby has dismissed fears that Neil Lennon could walk away from Celtic at the end of the season.

Strathclyde Police announced yesterday that they were investigating another death threat to the Celtic boss following the discovery of a suspicious device at a sorting office in Saltcoats.

Lennon has been given round the clock protection following the latest incident prompting fears that he may be forced out of Celtic.

Mjallby played alongside the Irishman for four years under Martin O’Neill and answered the call to become his assistant after the sacking of Tony Mowbray a year ago.

Asked if he felt that the Celtic boss could be considering his future at the club Mjallby replied: “He hasn’t told me that he has had enough. He is a strong character. He is in this job for the long run.

“He can certainly take the pressure so I would be very surprised if that happened. He is upbeat, in a good state of mind and fairly happy.

“After Wednesday’s game all we did was concentrate on this game and he is very good at that. All the other stuff behind the scenes is unacceptable.

“I know he is probably used to it but it shouldn’t happen anyway.”

Mjallby also revealed that Gary Hooper is expected to return to the Celtic side for next Sunday’s Scottish Cup tie away to Inverness Caley Thistle.

Hooper missed the 2-0 win over Hamilton due to a twisted knee but the injury isn’t thought to be causing too much concern.

The Swede said: “I hope that Gary will be in contention for the next game, at Inverness in the cup, we don’t think that the injury is too bad.

“We’ll see how his rehab goes this week but right now we hope and think that he’ll be ready for that match.”
