With week long St Patrick’s Day celebrations underway from Coatbridge to Boston and back again via Dubai and thousands of other stop offs The Corrigan Brothers have released their brand new single ‘Celtic Celtic (Hearts and Soul).
The Corrigans achieved online fame through “There’s no one as Irish as Barack Obama” which was watched almost seven million times on You Tube.
In February 2008 the three brothers from Limerick discovered that Obama’s great great great grandfather, a shoemaker called Falmouth Kearney, emigrated from Moneygall in Co Offaly in 1850.
They decided it was perfect song-writing material.
“We sat down on the Saturday and wrote the song in 20 minutes,” explaimed eldest brother Ger. “We recorded it on the Sunday and put it straight up on the internet. It just came flowing out of us.”
“Celtic Celtic (Hearts and Sole)” looks like being another smash hit with the band delighted to get involved with their favourite football club.
Ger added: “We visited Celtic last year for the first time and were taken by the passion and atmosphere, it was truly electric. Soon afterwards we contacted the club and discussed the possibilities of writing a song for them.
“It’s taken us longer than we thought but we finally completed it. We have also been in negotiations with the club to perform the song in Parkhead.”
Corrigan Brothers are currently recording their second album for release in July and will feature in a ZDF German TV Documentary about their connections to President Obama.
