Celtic installed as heavy title favourites

Celtic have been cut to 2/5 favourites to win the SPL title.

Neil Lennon and Walter Smith were both cautious about predictions after the 0-0 draw at Ibrox yesterday but the bookies are in no doubt that Celtic are now favourites.

With five games left to play four wins and a draw will almost certainly give Celtic the title with Rangers pushed out to 7/4.

Celtic still have three away matches to play, against Inverness Caley Thistle, Kilmarnock and Hearts whilst Rangers have still to travel to Motherwell and Kilmarnock.

Celtic’s final SPL match of the season is at home to Motherwell with the side’s meeting again in the Scottish Cup final at Hampden.

The bookies have Celtic as strong favourites to lift the cup in 90 minutes and are priced at 4/9 with Motherwell 7/1 to win in 90 minutes.

With no domestuc football this week, other than Wednesday’s SFA Youth Cup Final at Hampden, the Champions League semi-finals will dominate the headlines.

Barcelona are even money favourites to lift the trophy at Wembley, with semi-final rivals Real Madrid priced at 10/3.

Manchester United are second favourites at 5/2 with Schalke 04 the rank outsiders at 14/1 to see off Manchester United and the winners of the all Spanish semi final.
