The Celtic support at Kilmarnock last night left Neil Lennon in no doubt about their backing.
Escalating threats on the life of the Celtic manager has brought worldwide attention and condemnation from many throughout football, politics and Scottish life in general.
The positive influence of the internet was shown at it’s best last night when the Celtic support behind both goals at Rugby Park rose to applaud the Celtic manager and chant his name.
With Celtic already leading 1-0 the ESPN camaras and commentators briefly broke off from the action on the pitch to the tributes in the stands.
After the match Kilmarnock manager Kenny Shiels spoke out about the effect the travelling fans had had on the match.
He said: “There was so much energy emanating from the Celtic support,” he said. “If I was a neutral I would have thought the Celtic support were fantastic.
“I have never heard the Celtic support like that. Not only were the players supportive of the manager, the supporters played their part too and the quality they produced was the icing on the cake.”
“There were influential factors in the way Celtic played and the manager must be very proud tonight. They got an early goal which set the standard for the rest of the evening.”
