Johan Mjallby rules out mind games

Johan Mjallby has dismissed talk of mind games in the race for the SPL title.

Rangers enjoyed a 24 hour stay at the top of the table but Celtic’s 3-1 win over Hibs restored their two point advantage with 8 games left to play.

Late this afternoon the SPL announced that the top two would meet at Ibrox on April 24 but with three or four games to play before the last clash of the season the Celtic No.2 insists that it’s too early to be talking mind games.

“At this stage it is still about making sure you have the players for the game-plan and that our players are at their best,” the Swede insisted.

“The ability is always going to be important because of the way we play the game and the way we hope to make sure we pick up the three points.

“Mentality-wise, I think there are too many games to go before you can start to think about getting nervous about things.

“Especially now, with so many games coming up, it’s just important for us to get as many wins as possible.

“When it comes to the latter stage of the season, it might come in handy if you are very strong mentally then.”

Chick Young and James Traynor go head-to-head.
