Paul McBride QC laughs off SFA legal threat

Paul McBride has laughed off the SFA’s threat of taking legal action as hilarious and ludicrous.

Last night the SFA issued a six point statement slamming the QC after his criticism of their handling of Tuesday’s enquiry into the so called shame game that saw three Rangers players red carded.

No further action was taken against the Rangers trio with Ally McCoist having his appeal against a two match upheld.

McBride launched a scathing attack on that process and was quick to put the boot into the SFA again after the threat to sue him and report him to the Faculty of Advocates.

“I hope hope that my reaction is the reaction of most people who read it( the statement),” McBride said.

“It is one of utter incredulity. My first reaction to be honest was that it was the missing page of a Monty Python sketch. It is hilarious, ludicrous and bizarre.

“I intend to ignore the statement, it’s frankly stupid. In the unlikely event that they were mad enough to take legal action against me, and apparently every media outlet that has printed what I said then I would look forward to vigorously defending my position.

“The comments that I made about them were fair. They were accurate, they were in the public interest. And the public I think would be interested in the unlikely event of this going to court.

“Seeing how this inept, incredulous and neanderthal organisation.

“I as an advocate am not allowed to speak on behalf of a client, whether it be Celtic or whether it’s Neil Lennon. I am allowed as a member of the public and an individual who happens to be a Queens Counsel to comment on any matter legally as I see fit.”
