Neil Lennon Celtic newsNeil Lennon looked relaxed and refreshed as he appeared on Fox TV to discuss Celtic’s pre-season tour of Australia.

The Australian presenters had the Celtic boss at ease and after discussing the pre-season tour found their guest openly discussing the shameful attack that he suffered at Tynecastle last season- and the SPL’s reaction.

“It was a big embarassment for Hearts, it was shown worldwide and we’re here in Australia talking about it,” Lennon said. “According to the SPL Hearts did everything that they could from a security point of view.

“I’m a little bit disappointed with that outcome but hopefully it’s the tipping point from the things that happened last season.

“We really hope that the new legislation being brought in by the Scottish Government will deter anyone else from doing it again.”

Lennon added: “It was over in an instant but there was shock and anger. There was a lot of things going on last season but that’s the one area that you’d think you’d be quite safe, in your own technical area where you can concentrate on your job.

“We played very well that night, we’d just scored a second goal and this guy jumps out of the crowd and decides to have a pop. It was a wee bit unsettling to say the least but I didn’t want it to deflect away from the team.

“I was lucky in a way that my assistant Alan Thompson just got the guy before he could get a good go at me then the security guys were on top of things pretty quickly.

“Again it’s things that we’re talking about that have no reflection on football. It’s something that shouldn’t happen in football grounds anywhere.

It’s a shame that it’s been left to Neil to express “his disappointment”….
I feel that the Club ( i.e. Dr.Reid) should have been very vocal in condemning this decision….
Once again the “outside world” will assume that our supporters were every bit to blame for this..going by Doncaster’s wording.
How much longer are we prepared to take this kind of nonsense …without a protest of some sort??

The headlines stating “CELTIC and Hearts escape punishment” sum up the pathetic agenda in the scottish media and scottish football. In this day and age for this anti Celtic agenda to still thriving is an absolute disgrace, Scotland needs to start evolving with the rest of the world. Shameful situation.

I hope we never find out but I doubt there will be no punishment if something like this were to happen to the boss of any other team or if it was a Celtic fan instead of a Hearts fan trying to attack the opposition manager.

Sadly now that the SFA or SPL? have set a precedent they will be expected to be just as lenient with others, they refused to punish Rangers and their players for their antics in their “shame game” which included assaulting a referee, now if it happens again how can they honestly punish any other clubs or players.

If any of these situations do happen at or by Celtic then we will have the book thrown at us as usual, but any decent QC would just run rings around any punishment now the precedent has been set.
