Georgios Samaras Greece newsMelbourne football fans have been urged to get along to AAMI Park tonight to watch Celtic in action on and off the park.

Neil Lennon’s side have made a big impact on the Australian public with the hoops support giving the team the sort of backing that they’d enjoy at an away day in the SPL.

The three match tour has galvanised the Celtic support throughout Australia with the AAMI expected to be close to it’s 27,000 capacity for tonight’s clash down under.

Tour promoter Lou Sticca said:“It’s not on TV so if you want to experience something truly special, an atmosphere like no other, AAMI Park is the place to be.

Victory coach Adrian Leijer took in a Celtic-Rangers match with the experience leaving a lasting impression.

“I loved it,” he admitted. “ The fans are mad. I’ve heard a few of them are going to the pub down the road at 4pm so by 7.30pm they’ll be well on their way. I’m excited. They’re arguably some of the best fans in the world.”

Turning his thoughts to the match he added: “It is a good eye-opener for people, especially the youngsters. Looking at this squad a lot of the youngsters have been here for quite some time.

It gives them a little taste of what it’s like in Europe and a lot of them have dreams to go play in Europe … and to test themselves against high quality players who play week-in-week-out in Europe.”
