Perth chief hopeful pitch will be ready

|

Perth’s nib Stadium has been given the all clear to host Saturday’s friendly with Celtic.

Two helicopters were called in to help with the drying out process with both clubs satisfied with the condition of the pitch after a Thursday morning inspection.

The logistics of switching the match to either the Patersons Stadium or the WACA have been ruled out with Perth Chief Paul Kelly desperate to make Saturday’s match happen.

He said: “It’s still a bit soft but the thing is we’re going to have to play there.

“We’re going to play at the stadium. It will be a little soft underfoot but I have every faith that today and tomorrow it will harden up.

“I’m very confident that there won’t be any risk to players. I’m quite happy being there today that the contours will be different given that 48 hours ago, I looked at it and said this is unplayable.

“I have no choice at the moment. Simply we are going to have to play the game there. We’ve just got to get it to the best possible standard that we can get it too.”
