Door opens for Forster return

Newcastle have been linked with a £3m move for West Ham keeper Robert Green opening the door for Fraser Forster to return to Celtic.

Neil Lennon has had one bid turned down for the keeper but hasn’t given up hope of bringing Forster back to Parkhead.

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew was keen to have a look at all of his keepers in pre-season but is now interested in taking Green to St James Park.

Pardew paid Norwich £2m for Green in 2006 with the Hammers looking to cut their weage bill after being relegated from the Premiership.

Forster joined Celtic on a season long loan a year ago whilst Chris Hughton was in charge of Newcastle.

Celtic have been linked with a number of keepers over the summer but it is believed that Forster has always been Lennon’s first choice.

Ideally Lennon would like a deal to be completed by the Europa League deadline of August 8 with the draw for that competition taking place tomorrow.
