Dundee United hit back at Goodwillie bids

Dundee United chairman Stephen Thompson has finally hit back at Rangers attempts to sign David Goodwillie.

The Scotland striker is expected to complete his transfer to Blackburn Rovers today after Thompson rejected Rangers SEVENTH bid to take the striker to Ibrox.

Rangers’ bid was not acceptable,” Thompson stated last night. “The overall deal was not as much as was on offer from Blackburn.

“If the offer was right from Rangers then of course we could have sold to them. But the offer wasn’t right as far as we’re concerned – and that’s it.”

Rangers made no secret of their interest in Goodwillie despite their initial bid being less than £1m.

As late as Monday with Goodwillie in Blackburn for a medical Ally McCoist was talking up Rangers interest in the striker.

He told Rangers TV: “Until someone tells me that he has signed for Blackburn Rovers I will be hoping we can get him, there’s no doubt about that.

“He’s obviously a player we would like and it’s pretty straight forward that Blackburn are interested as well.

“But until someone tells me that he has signed on the dotted line for Blackburn I will always be hopeful.”
