SFA stand by Euan Norris red card

The SFA’s highly publicised ‘new disciplinary’ procedure has knocked back Inverness Caley Thistle’s appeal against Ross Tokely’s red card against Rangers on Saturday.

Despite claims of a new dawn and an era of accountability Tokely’s appeal against a one match suspension has been upheld by the anonymous panel.

Most commentators watching the incident complimented the Caley Thistle defenders challenge on Steven Naysmith despite the striker’s theatrical fall to the ground.

Referee Euan Norris was in no doubt about the decision pointing to the penalty spot and red carding Tokely who will be suspended for Saturday’s match with Aberdeen.

Earlier this week Caley Thistle boss Terry Butcher said: “We have carefully studied the action replays and they confirm my view at the time, that it was a perfectly timed tackle.

“We have now lodged an appeal and we hope that justice will be done and ‘Tokes’ will be eligible to face Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Saturday. The video evidence is there for all to see.”

A statement on the SFA website read: “Claim dismissed. One SPL match suspension, effective immediately.”
