Sion news Madcap Sion President Christian Constantin has told UEFA and FIFA to relocate to Libya if they throw his side out of the Europa League.

Rather than offer words of conciliation ahead of UEFA’s decision on Tuesday about fielding ineligible players against Celtic the Sion chief has gone on a fresh offensive.

“If UEFA does not comply with Swiss law as required by its statutes, the gentlemen go to Libya- simple,” he taunted after today’s Europa League draw grouped his side with Athletico Madrid, Udinese and RenneS.

UEFA and FIFA both have their headquarters in Switzerland.

After breaking a transfer ban on six summer signings FIFA banned the players from action with Pascal Feindouno and the other five missing out on the opening games of the season.

Sion got that overturned in the Swiss courts with FIFA taking that decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport and warning the Swiss FA that they could be kicked out of Euro 2012 and see all of their clubs thrown out of European tournaments.

Undeterred by the consequences awaiting his club Constantin further taunted the football authorities: “I’m not crazy, I knew these people would not let go like that, UEFA can not have a monopoly on the organisation of competitions and made their own justice by flouting the decision of a Swiss judge.”

If Baron Constantin has a problem with UEFA and FIFA rules he’d be best sticking to playing in Swiss football.

Earlier today UEFA President Michel Platini spoke out on the issue saying: “What is happening there is the rules have not been respected. FC Sion has not respected the rules of the transfer ban – they signed players and then played those players.”

As well as his attacks on FIFA and UEFA Constantin has filed a criminal complaint against UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino and his FIFA counterpart Jerome Valcket

The Sion President added: “That is a constraint. I am ready for anything. If we fight, I will fight. Because I can not stand injustice and I defend my interests.

“So I am fighting against a totalitarian regime that wants to impose an injustice. That is why I attack the criminals Valcke and Infantino for threats made.

  • Celtic Daft says:

We may get in but we’d be bumped out again double-quick. Atetico Madrid? Udinese? Rennes are a good team as well.

  • The Dew says:

Don’t know if I want in, atleast we can focus on the league and getting knocked out might force the boards hand in getting in a quality striker and CB, to help secure the league and CL football next season. That would be the obvious option for them in the wake of the last few years…., but I ain’t holding my breath for these signings!

  • STEVIEC says:

If we can’t beat a team like sion we don’t deserve to be in the competition.
we,re playing at the level the board want us to.
Any money made from a back door entry into Europa league would only go to improve the balance sheet so why bother.

  • GAZ says:

We do not deserve to go through to league stage and we wont its to complicated for eufa to handle celtic would have been second seeds not fourth seeds like Sion so it would mean these teams playing second seed team in celtic so they would complain and then celtic will complain about not being second seed so i think they will just get a heavy fine to save all the shit

  • Dan Bhoy says:

Do Sion deserve to be in the competition…?

There’s only one answer to that. Celtic are merely the benefactors

    • Mojiebhoy says:

I agree with that Dan. I have been on the other side of it were rules were broke and the team i followed got kicked out. Cliftonville fielded a player in an Irish cup game that was not signed on time.

They won all the way to the final before it was realized and they got kicked out. The other team was just given the trophy. Rules were broken, no complaints.

TP Mazembe, the current African champions and only African team to qualify for the final of the world Club Cup, last year against Inter, got kicked out of this years competition for a similar offence. That’s the equivelent of kicking Barca out of Europe. FC Sion willfully broke the rules, FIFA told they cannot sign new players until January 2012.

They broke the rules. If Sion played against Rangers, I would still want them out as it is the principal of the thing. I hope we don’t go begging and pleading though, let UEFA and FIFA deal with it and make that decision.
