Sion news Cocky Sion midfielder Goran Obradovic believe that Fraser Forster is the weak link in the Celtic side and claimed that their Europa League opponents are not a great side.

Forster made his first Celtic appearance in three months against the Swiss Cup holders and looked nervy with a couple of punched clearances late in the match.

The Sion camp are very confident of progress next week and weren’t shy about sharing that belief with Swiss newspaper Le Matin.

Goran Obradovic said: “On August 25, Sion should try to take better advantage of hesitation as the goalkeeper Forster for his return, showed a remarkable restlessness.”

Getting into his stride the midfielder added: “Celtic did not impress me, it’s not a great team, I expected more. It is not like the great Celtic team of 10 years ago. I even think to say that Sion is not inferior to him.”

Sion seem unhappy with Celtic’s preparations for next week’s return match after their offer of three hotels was turned down in favour of one chosen by Thomas Cook.

The Swiss club have also gone public that Celtic will be using their own coach for the match rather than the offered by their hosts.

At a meeting of the Swiss Super League clubs in Berne today there was no progress made over the case of the Sion Six. FC Lausanne-Sport are expected to fullfill Sunday’s match with Sion under protest over the fielding of six players that are ineligible according to FIFA.

Easy to see what they’re doing, they’ve heard that Scottish football is going through a stage of embarressment, so theyre getting their players to really rub it in and upset us, make our players nervous. It’s probably going to work too…

  • colin garvey says:

Well know am gonna get crucified but don’t blame him for being cocky after that disaster last night if I was Forster I’d be nervous behind that defence too lol

  • don revie says:

Keep the faith Colin and Mark. It’s very early doors yet. We could find us in the next round with a Samaras goal like the one he got in Moscow ! that earned us a few quid . KTF

  • BBhoy says:

Pffft. He’s right on various counts, Fraser seemed edgey, the Celtic team of 10 years ago was stronger etc.

However, I wouldn’t get cocky on it, Celtic dominated the game with several key players out, and they now know there has to be focus on the final third, an away goal will be their priority from the offset.

They’re making a lot of noise considering all they did was frustrate, not threaten. I reckon they’re scared we snatch an away goal early, and they’ll be in the sh@t, so are in the wind up, same as they were with all their time eating tactics.

    Celtic fans demand success

  • BBhoy says:

    Wind-up; time wasting (predictive text)

  • Joe McHugh says:

I don’t think that many Celtic supporters would/could argue with what was said.

However some things are best kept in the dressing room- ask Craig Short and the Blackburn nobodies if they regret getting gobby about Men against Bhoys?

Hopefully Lenny, Thompson and Mjallby can get a similar reaction.

    Let ’em gloat.

Celtic will do them in their own back yard.

Sion are a poor side, we should put them away next leg but if we are knocked out Lennon has to answer , Forster was poor, for a keeper if his size, he looked to punch every cross, and looked poor in his application , Sion are right he IS a weak link, but Lennon seems to have a blind spot for him, if he costs us the tie ……….. he will have to answer!

  • Kevin D says:

I agree with Wb that Lennon will have answer if we are put out by a third rate European team like Sion.

The tactics were all wrong again. Samaras was totally ineffective out on the left and it seemed more of a hinderance than a help. The Derry Pele should have come on much sooner.

A lot of the players had a stinker, but there were some who deserved critisism more than others.

Goran has got nothing to shout about as his team had many opportunities to get a goal from the endless free kicks that the ref was content to supply them, but they could only blooter the ball of the wall.

A poor, poor team who should have been easily dispatched.

Lets all get behind the team for the return leg.

    Keep The Faith.

The board are to blame for this mess, not NL or the players we had available. Say what you like about their ability, but at least the players try.

The board, however, make no effort to improve things what-so-ever. They’ve cost the club about £50m in the last four years with their stupid penny-pinching- that’s why Samaras is still here, and that’s why we got FF back on LOAN rather than buying GS, the polish keeper, who seemed a much better player.

I don’t believe for a second that NL has any control over these player buying decisions. Do you really think that NL, Tommo, etc cant tell who the best players are and what we need for our team ?

  • The kidd says:

Sion didn’t look much of a team. Long ball over the top and no imagination.

    We were unlucky !!!

Maloney and McCourt should have been given 30 mins at least because it only looked a matter of time until we had a decent chance when they were on.

My shout is maloney to turn this tie out way

  • mick f says:

that’s what we like to hear, players questioning the quality of our team & keeper. that alone should be enough motivation to stick it right up them. Forster nervy after being back at the club for 6 HOURS isn’t bad considering he got a shut out…surely it’s up to us where we stay & how we travel? i know its courtesy to provide us but we’ll decide…Brown to noise them up & get booked in 1st ten minutes, they lose it a bit & then we get a goal by Sammy & ends up a 2-0 win for us.

  • Stevie says:

One for the dressing room wall I think.
Why Lenny dropped luka is beyond me.
Let’s see what this Celtic team are made of.
    In Lenny we trust.
The Celtic Board bhoy can they run a good balance sheet.
