Desperate Sion President Christian Constantin believes that Celtic AND Sion can play in the Europa League!
A local court yesterday threw out Constantin’s claim that Sion should be reinstated in the competition but the Sion President has vowed to fight his side’s exclusion all the way.
In season 2003/04 Constantin managed to get the Swiss League expanded from 16 to 17 teams in mid-season with the madcap Sion chief seeing a similar solution to his current dispute
“We will fight to the end, as in war, there will be other battles,” Constantin vowed in the spirit of Winston Churchill. “I must prepare for all eventualities.
“It is not impossible that they give me reason in two months, and that one has to reschedule to make up for our matches.”
After a lengthy battle through 2003 Sion were reinstated in the championship in October despite the other clubs having played 12 matches with the league expanded from 16 to 17 teams.
Constantin added: “Without necessarily exclude the Celtic, a judge may require there to UEFA that we reinstate the middle of the competition.”
Continuing their head in the sands approach to the matter Sion will send their spies to tomorrow’s Athletico Madrid-Valencia match to get an update on Celtic’s Europa League opponents.
