Dear Diary: Am I a bad person?

|

Celtic diary newsDear Diary ..Since my last visit not too much has happened .. ..’Though I should mention…Rangers are out of the League Cup.

We made the journey north to Dingwall where we met up with old adversaries, in the shape of Ross County. I don’t need to remind you Dear Diary of what happened the last time we played them….humiliation springs to mind. Anyway…..did I say…..Rangers are out of the League Cup.

Our game kicked off in dreadful conditions , and coupled with the tight pitch and feisty opponents , it looked as if we would have our work cut out….and so it proved.

I won’t go into all the details of our victory , but it was hard fought , not always pretty to look at…but as we were on a hiding to nothing …we have to be grateful we came through relatively unscathed.
Which is more than can be said for Rangers, however, as they are out of the League Cup…I nearly forgot to mention that.

Just a couple of points about the game Dear Diary….
First up I have to mention Big Dan…I think he was recently given a DVD of Franz Beckenbauer ..and more to the point…he obviously watched it. Not since the days of The Kaiser strolling through a game with nonchalant ease have I seen a centre-back so laid back.

He stroked passes along the 18 yard line to a team-mate with inches to spare from the onrushing strikers, without a care in the world. Then he would test the agility of Fraser Forster by sending pass-backs, almost but not quite underhit, to the big keeper ….

Dear Diary I wish he would just clatter into folk and leave the “fancy dan” stuff to someone else. Kelvin Wilson has obviously been showing his fellow defenders how to cushion a clearance from defence…straight to the feet of your opponent. Not content with laying a superb ball off to Naismith on Sunday…. he proceeded to do the same thing again on Wednesday.

Fortunately…this one hit the post and was cleared. Not to be outdone ..El Khadourri had a go at it later on …and again the effort was blocked.
Do the simple things lads.

On the plus side …Kayal and Mulgrew looked like Celtic players….on the downside …James Forrest didn’t. What a chance to rip into them James….you made one run..slipped and fell and claimed for a foul.
You’ve been studying Naismith too much….Come on son…get your act together. So we are through to the quarters…and Rangers aren’t …in case you hadn’t heard.
Dear Diary I am so happy.

PS: Does the fact that I got more pleasure from Rangers being knocked out the Cup …than I did from us winning….make me a bad person.??
