The long running feud between Alex Ferguson and Kenny Dalglish flared up again last night after Manchester United’s 1-1 draw away to Benfica.
ITV reporter Kelly Cates, daughter of Kenny, had the task of conducting the tricky after match interview with the Manchester United boss.
After a few straightforward questions on the match Cates/Dalglish turned her attention to one of the key questions that most viewers would be asking- had Anders Lindegaard’s performance given him a selection dilemma ahead of Sunday’s match with Chelsea.
After answering the question the Manchester United boss added: “I don’t know why you ask these questions. You’re just looking for stupid little things. David will play on Sunday. That was the understanding we had before the game and it doesn’t change.”
Dalglish was a late call off from Scotland’s 1986 World Cup squad, managed by Fergie with many believing that the omission of Alan Hansen had a bearing on the decision.
Five months after that incident Ferguson found himself in charge of Manchester United with the feud between the two Glaswegians going public after a 3-3 draw between Liverpool and Manchester United in 1988.
After the match Fergie complained to radio reporters about the ordering off of Colin Gibson claiming that manager : “have to leave here choking on their own vomit, biting their tongue, afraid to tell the truth.”
With Ferguson in full flow Dalglish remarked while passing with his infant daughter Lauren: “You’ll get more sense out of her.’

Daglish and his family are a bunch a bitter cunts, and Ferguson is the master of conflict, but this is blown well out of proportion.
Am I missing something here?? Can you explain to me in Layman’s terms the connecton between the interview conducted by Dalglish’s daughter & a feud between both managers? Also, how does this provoke or stoke the feud?
