Scotland boss Craig Levein has called for Dutch referee Kevin Blom to be demoted after Scotland’s 2-2 draw with the Czech Republic at Hampden.
Levein was angry at two late penalty decisions that went against Scotland while overlooking a clear penalty that the Czech’s were denied in the first half when Charlie Adam sent Milan Baros tumbling with a reckless penalty box challenge.
Straight after the match the Scotland boss said: “I don’t know what standard the referee is supposed to be of, but I would hope he would get demoted for his performance.
“You would need to ask the referee why he made such two such major, major mistakes. It beggars belief that he could make two mistakes of such magnitude.”
Last season Scottish referees went on strike for reasons that were never fully explained although public criticism of their displays was believed to be part of the reason.
SFA Chief Stewart Regan called for the introduction of video technology after the draw with the Czech’s which virtually ends Scotland’s hopes of reachng next summer’s European Championship finals.
Perhaps the Scotland manager can help introduce an accountable system for the SFA to promote and demote referees then recommend it for UEFA use.

Who’s paranoid now????
I agree with him. Then again, I support Celtic and Scotland.
Yup, Levein let’s demote a Dutch international referee while we have such absolute sh#te festering in our own nest. Scottish referees have been – quite consistently – the least competent. We expect from the footballing backwaters but (ask the Turks) invariably our “top” referees are the worst – ever.
BTW Levein you ******** – why did you play one forward up front, why did you have such a Krap formation when we played the Czechs away and why are your teams consistently just like all your predecessors were – negative , timid and consistently on the back foot, even at home. Oh – and get a shave you look like you woke up in a skip, behind an Indian restaurant in Leith.
I respected Levein after he spoke out about scottish referee bias when Rangers were handed wins in the cup final, and in a league game against his Dundee Utd team, when he even called for foreign refs to be introduced in Scotland, but since then his silence on referee bias favouring Rangers has been deafening. He doesn’t have the b@lls to speak out now.
if they start demoting refs based on performance that cunt collum will be demoted to a spunk bubble in his dads sack!!!!
Referees would be desperate to avoid Celtic games that’s for sure, it would be a fine balancing act between getting demoted for too many “honest mistakes” and getting demoted by their bosses for not enough “honest mistakes”!
Realistically such a system would be of no benefit in Scotland and could actually be worse for Celtic, who would decide what was a terrible performance? We have seen how independent panels in scottish football work when Mccoist, Bougherra and Diouf were let off for encroaching on our technical area, elbowing physiotherapists, assaulting referees, ignoring police orders on the field of play etc, we have also been given a glimpse of how fair we are treated outside of football by a random selection of jurors at the recent Lennon assault trial, we won’t get a fair go anywhere in Scotland, our only hope is foreign refs being run by foreign bosses.
He made one mistake not two. Both incidents were identical in nature. They were both penalties. But when you have an idiot like Levein mouthing about how Berra’s was a stonewall penalty while Berra himself admits to going down very easily, it doesn’t help Leveins case much. Also, if ours was so was theirs. What he should be doing is roasting Wilson for a stupid tackle that created the opportunity to begin with. Levein still has his head up his backside.
Scottish referees the worst bunch of honest mistake merchants going around. Regen sort them out or ship them out preferably ship them out, they got the cheek to ask for more money. Kenny Clark wit an arse of a man.
