Alan Muir will referee Saturday’s match between Celtic and Motherwell.
The last Celtic match that Muir took charge of was also against Motherwell in the final SPL match of last season which Celtic won 3-0.
Calum Murray will be in charge of Dundee United v Rangers match at Tannadice which should rule Murray out of the Rangers v Celtic match the following week.
Willie Collum and Iain Brines both refereed their first derby matches last season with Craig Thomson the only other top flight ref to have been awarded the top SPL fixture.
Thomson was the man in the middle in the last two Glasgow derbies and also took charge of the January 2 match at Ibrox which Celtic won 2-0.
Over the weekend the SFA will have to decide whether to give Thomson his third consecutive derby match or trust the fixture to eagle-eyes Collum or Brines who was overlooked for the fixture for 10 years before taking charge of Celtic’s 3-0 SPL win over Rangers in February.

How depressing, what a bunch to choose from, Collum is the worst of those but not by much.
Give me a Dutch man anyday of the week.
What’s the odds of a goal chopped off for us or Dundee utd or both.
Rangers will need a helping hand for certain, ive noticed linesmen are very prone to “honest mistakes” in favour of a certain skint team this season, don’t be surprised if the linesman gifts a certain skint team a result.
Bhoylondon67, Collum is in a league of his own in that group. Collum is a cheat and a bigot in the mould of Dallas and McDonald. He is so blatanly anti-Celtic that frankly, he doesn’t care who notices, such is his arrogance. Give me Thompson first, then Brines. Collum is a scumbag.
I can’t stand any of them…but Collum most of all…
This is nothing more than an “Old Boys” club…whose
members are grossly ..and I mean grossly…overpaid.
If they earned their money on honesty and competence…. they’d be like you know who….SKINT.
