Filip Twardzik Celtic newsCeltic’s youth side had to settle for a point today after being held by Motherwell at Lennoxtown.

Filip Twardzik scrambled the ball into the net from a Tony Watt cutback in the 16th minute but a 25 yard wonder strike nine minutes from the break from Kieran MacDonald denied John Kennedy’s side full points.

Celtic had the bulk of possession in the second half but couldn’t work their way through the ‘Well defence.

Joe, i didn’t see the first 15mins due to there being a traffic jam on the motorway – but as far as i could make out, we missed quite a good few chances.

In first half, Tony did well in the left corner, held it up and played in Jackson at the edge of the box, big man took a touch and curled one to the far top corner, just clipped the bar on the way over – would’ve been his first of the season – second half, 10-12mins before the end, Tony volleyed one at the back post – did well to get on the end of it in a busy box but smashed it too high over the bar, a real chance – then, with a chance to win it very late on, think it was Lewis in the left corner of the box, sliderule pass played into him and his drive came back off the Motherwell keeper – think we clipped the bar second half too – and Motherwell had one or two half-chances – all in all, i was surprised it ended only 1-1 ! Quite a few changes to the team since the beginning of the season.

Credit to Motherwell esp their two dark players in midfield/forward and their right winger no7 – and of course, young fella who scored the 30-yarder – no chance there for Robbie, who did well with one in second half that was looping under the bar – good save. MOM for me was Motherwell leftfooted attacker (dark player – very talented – sorry dunno his name). Best Celt for me was Filip – again, composed and relaxed – maybe too relaxed but for now, that’s his style.

By the way, i had a look at other u19 results on the SPL website – Hearts doin well but Rangers, if i am not mistaken, played 1 lost 1, with 2 postponed. Hearts next up for Celtic – Friday around 1pm over in the east.
