Dylan McGeough Celtic news Dylan McGeogh made his Celtic debut yesterday helping the u-19s to a 2-0 victory away to Hearts.

A broken metatarsal bone delayed his debut after his summer switch from Rangers but in 45 minutes showed exactly why Celtic were so keen to sign him up.

Playing between striker Omar Bogle and a powerful four man midfield McGeough showed no signs of rustiness as he constantly looked for the ball to run at the Hearts defence.

A fifth minute shot from 25 yards came back off the woodwork but that didn’t detract from John Kennedy’s satisfaction at McGeough’s debut.

“Dylan came to us with an injury but it was good for him to get 45 minutes under his belt and that will stand him in good stead,” the Celtic coach explained.

“Hopefully that will give him a platform to build his Celtic career. He’s new to the club but all the boys know him so he fitted in quite nicely.”

Bogle also made his Celtic debut and lasted until the 64th minute when he was replaced by Tony Watt.

John Herron and substitute Rhys Williamson scored the goals that took Celtic to the top of the table in the 72nd and 87th minutes with Kennedy happy with the way his new look side is developing and the strength in depth that he has to chose from.

He added: “We’ve got good competition for places and no one has any guarantees. Tony (Watt) has played the majority of games so far but we decided to change it a wee bit and Omar (Bogle) has been looking sharp in training so we gave him a wee crack.

“It’s good to have Tony and Rhys (Williamson) in reserve plus others like Bahrudin (Atajic) and Liam Gormley who can come on in games and change it. There’s been a few games this season where players have came on and made an impact and that highlights the depth we have in the squad.

Marcus Fraser Celtic News“We also had a couple of our u-17s playing and that’s pleasing, Stewart Findlay and Lewis Kidd did well but overall as a team and especially at the back I felt we were really good.

“The defencer kept Hearts pretty quiet and restricted them to a few long range efforts or crosses into the box. I felt that Marcus was outstanding, he’s the one who’ll put his head on things and get into tackles and he did that again- he leads from the back. Stewart has did well but Marcus has a wee bit of experience and is helping Stewart along.”
