Scott Brown on his injury set back

Scott Brown is gutted at the new he’ll be out of action for upto ten weeks as he prepares for an ankle operation later this week.

The folly of pointless international friendlies has been highlighted again with the midfielder’s injury occuring during Scotland’s August ‘challenge match’ with Denmark.

Brown had hoped that rest would cure the problem but after being forced out of the game with Rangers last month he’ll have to go under the knife to cure the problem.

“It’s really disappointing news,” he admitted. “I was hoping a few weeks rest would be enough. But if having an op fixes the problem then I just need to accept it and get on with it.

“I’ll be working harder than ever to make sure I’m back 100 per cent. I’ve been told it will take eight to ten weeks but hopefully it’s sooner rather than later.”

If Brown’s recovery runs to schedule he should be back by December.

Kelvin Wilson faces a similar length of time on the sidelines after being injured in the League Cup win at Ross County.

“I’ve not spoken to the physios about a come back date,” the defender said: “I think that the first couple of weeks will determine exactly how long I will be out for. I’ll get on with the treatment just now and see how I react to it.”
