Marseilles struck a blow to Celtic’s hopes of progressing in the Next Gen Series by defeating Barcelona 4-2 last night.
The Barca kids raced into a two goal lead after 22 minutes but the home side pulled a goal back just before half time then struck three times in the second period.
Marseilles join Barcelona at the top of Group 1 with nine points. Celtic are on three points after three matches and realistically need to win their three remaining matches to progress to the knock out stages in Abu Dhabi in January.
Celtic’s next match is at home to Manchester City on November 7 with John Kennedy’s side looking for a repeat of their 4-2 win in Manchester earlier this week, City travel to face Barcelona four days before travelling to Celtic Park.
Tomorrow’s SPL match between Celtic and Inverness Caley Thistle has been postponed with Celtic’s next match scheduled for next Saturday, October 29 away to Kilmarnock at the Kilwinning Sports Centre with an 11.30am kick off.
