Neil Lennon Celtic newsCeltic and Hibs have refused to issue tickets to Hearts over fears that they may not be paid for.

The financial problems of the Edinburgh club has resulted in players wages going unpaid with Vladimir Romanov looking to sell his stake in the club.

Most clubs issue tickets directly to the visiting club to distribute to their own fans but with cash flow a problem at Tynecastle Celtic and Hibs have decided to sell the tickets directly to Hearts fans.

The Hearts Supporters Federation are upset at the increased charges for this service and believe that the move is due to cash troubles for their OPPONENTS!

“We are used to dealing with Hearts directly and getting our orders in a group booking,” Steve Kilgour of the Hearts Federation told a local newspaper. “There’s no guarantee of that same service from Celtic and Hibs.

“If this is being done because the other clubs suspect Hearts won’t pay them the ticket money they are due, then that’s just an excuse.
“I think the other clubs want the money straight away, they don’t want to wait because they need cash themselves.

“There has been a bit of tit for tat between Hearts and Celtic in the past over tickets. But Celtic go out of their way to make you unwelcome as it is.
“Parkhead is the most inhospitable place in Scotland to go and watch a football match. That goes from the stewarding right to the policing.”

If the same stewarding arrangements were in place at Tynecastle it may have prevented Neil Lennon from being assaulted at the Edinburgh ground earlier this year.

    Hey Joe,

No report or match updates on the Under 17s Glasgow Cup game with Queens Park last night, heard we won 2-1….hope your not taking it easy just because we are approaching the festive season now !!

    Keep up the great work

  • Greenjedi says:

Are we doing the same for the huns as they might not hand the cash over either without us taking them to court?

Maybe the powers that be will listen to visiting supporters when they complain about Celtic Park being ‘inhospitable’. The police and stewards seem determined to mke it so about 25 times a year for Celtic supporters never mind the once or twice that the Gers wee cousins from the east show up. You have to laugh though a Hearts supporter talking about ‘inhosptitable’football grounds

Hahaha, maybe Celtic need the cash themselves? He’s got to be kidding right? It’s not Celtic that can’t pay their bills. We don’t have any debt problems and unlike some, we pay our bills on time, we are able to pay our players every week and we don’t owe the tax man either!

Oh, and Celtic go out of their way to make them feel unwelcome! Yes, because their manager has been assaulted on the pitch, hasn’t he?

    Idiotic diet-bun!

I think the stewarding comments about them making it an inhospitable place are unneccessary,I work in 111 at Celtic park doing the stewarding whenever I get time away from my full time job,and I always try to make it known that I will help any Celtic fan in any way I can when I’m on shift, and that goes for the majority of the “decent ones”. Its the police who are the ones that are heavy handed with punters etc. At the end of the day though, there are rules to be abided by at games, and mostly if stewards get involved its down to some arse hole acting like an idiot, and generally showing no respect for anyone including the club.
I’d think carefully before digging into stewards at Celtic park,as most of all they are their to keep you and everyone else out of trouble. The club has that suspended sentence over its head for fan trouble, and recently the IRA chants etc have brought that all back into question. For the level headed Celtic fans, they don’t mind the stewards as they see the bigger picture and understand it’s a game of football at the end of the day. I am for one,a massive fan of the club and when I work their I want to see fellow fans behave in the way that I would.it’s all health and safety these days, and I agree a lot of that its over the top,but rules are rules.and its the club that suffers at the emd of the day if fans keep breaking them.
Just see the bigger picture and u know I’m right.
Anyway I think the club are right to hold back tickets from the likes of hearts,I was stewarding in amongst them last season, and they are vile, worse than the Gers. Chanting stuff about an old Celtic fan who collapsed etc. Talk about inhospitable?it’s vermin like that, they make it this way.its no wonder stewards etc make it so that they feel unwelcome, its because the are not welcome, when they behave like that.act appropriately and you will be treated accordingly.get out of hand, yer out on yer arse.simple as that.
