Spot-kick Norris in charge of Rangers again

Euan ‘spot-kick’ Norris will be in charge of Rangers match on Saturday at home to St Johnstone.

New Saints boss Steve Lomas would be well advised to warn his players about any penalty box contact when Norris is about.

Earlier this season Inverness Caley boss Terry Butcher was furious at Norris’ handling of their home match with Rangers when Norris awarded two penalty kicks to the visitors.

If Butcher had did his homework he’d have known that in the two Rangers games that Norris handled last season Walter Smith’s side were awarded three penalty kicks.

Last November at Kilmarnock two penalty awards from Norris helped Rangers to a 3-2 win at Kilmarnock while in April one penalty was enough to see Rangers past St Mirren with a 2-1 scoreline.

Saturday’s appointment is only the sixth SPL match that Norris has been given with Celtic still to face the penalty happy referee.

Celtic’s match at Inverness on Saturday will be refereed by Stevie O’Reilly who was in charge of the end of season match between the two clubs.

For some reason the SFA seem to enjoy appointing the same referee as last season to take charge of Celtic matches, already this season Craig Thomson has been in charge of Celtic’s trips to Rangers and Hearts having also handled those fixtures after last season’s split.

After his woeful performance at the Motherwell Celtic game Charlie Richmond has been excused from action this week and given the less demanding task of being fourth official at Saturday’s St Mirren v Dunfermline match which will be refereed by Crawford Allan.
