Neil Lennon Celtic newsNeil Lennon wants to sign a centre-half and a centre-forward during the January transfer window.

Despite seeing his side turn a 15 point deficit into a 2 point lead over Rangers the hoops boss wants to strengthen his side next month.

Huddersfield striker Jordan Rhodes has been linked with Celtic as well as Baba Diawara of Maritimo with both players rated in the £3m region.

“I think that it’s always important to be adding players,” Lennon told Sky Sports after last night’s win over Rangers.

“We’ve been looking for a centre half and a centre forward, something to give us a little bit different, particularly in games away from home. We will do what’s best for the club.”

Last January Lennon signed Kris Commons for £400,000 from Derby County but was unable to secure a deal with Nottingham Forest to secure Kelvin Wilson.

Swedish international full-back Mikael Lustig will officially join Celtic on Sunday, January 1 with Lennon looking for further new faces to strengthen his title hopes.

Well said GB but I think it was a question raised while SB was out injured. Having said that it should now be removed or at least revised. 1 SB 1NL HH 😀

Don’t make the same mistakes as that fateful January many moons ago. The lack of foresight/ambition in the Willo window, literally put the club back years.

Hopefully we can get some of the deadwood out the door permanently…..Hooiveld seemingly has found his level so more should be looking to follow his lead.

Despite the result yesterday we still lack adequate cover for Izzy, both Ledley & Mulgrew are way short of pace to play at left back. El Kad is clearly well short while Blackman is a long shot.

Dan should be punted at the end of the season, Loovens is a trier but better going elsewhere.

Keeper is on loan, so we should be sorting this vital position out properly. We also need quality back-up which we don’t have…neither of our 2 squad keepers will make it.

Plenty of work to be done…hopefully some of it is already well down the line. We shouldn’t simply be looking to be above Rangers, we should look much further ahead than their level.

I’m happy if we get in a striker and a centre back, Wanyama and Mulgrew are our best central defenders even with all of them fit and are good enough but if one gets injured we are in trouble, hopefully Wilson will turn out to be a good 1st team player.

Up front I still like Stokes and Hooper but again if one gets injured we don’t have decent options. I can’t see Rangers strengthening but regardless of that they will go on a run of games and we need to make sure we are still on top when they do.

Hopefully ‘Well can take some points from them and we can push on a bit before they get their confidence back. HH

I watched Neil Lennon being interviewed post match.

While he was making positive noises about the possibility of January signings his body language suggested otherwise.

He was making a positive statement but his head was shaking from side to side in they way you would if saying no.

Hope my reading body language skills are off, maybe its just a sign that although he’s hopeful of signings maybe a few hurdles have to be jumped.
