Gerard Butler newsHollywood star Gerard Butler has revealed that he’s rather score for Celtic against Rangers than win an Oscar!

The Paisley born star realised a dream in August when he lined up alongside Henrik Larsson and Neil Lennon as a Celtic legends XI beat Manchester United in front of 60,000 fans.

Butler was back in Glasgow over Christmas and took in Celtic’s 1-0 win over Rangers with Joe Ledley scoring the only goal of the match.

The 42-year-old is currently starring alongside Ralph Fiennes in a movie adaptation of Shakespeare’s Coriolanus but when the cameras stop rolling his thoughts are never far from Celtic Park.

“It was probably the highlight of my career,” he explained to deadline.co.uk about playing in the Oxfam match against Manchester United.

“Back home at Christmas, talking about it with my mum, even she said that. She’s been to Hollywood premieres with me and she said it doesn’t get better than that moment, ‘just to see you walk on at Parkhead.’

“My stepfather is a Rangers fan so it’s been an infinite source of entertainment for him to have to deal with that.”

Asked the big question comparing scoring against Rangers or winning an Oscar he replied: “Scoring a winning goal against Rangers!”
