Paul Lambert ignored the rants of Joey Barton as Norwich beat QPR 2-1 to remain in the top half of the Premiership.
While Neil Warnock’s side play out life under the spotlight last season’s Championship runners up are quietly going about their business with 25 points picked up from 20 matches.
Barton opened the scoring for the homeside before being red carded leaving his ten man team-mates to tune in to his twitter account as he explained his actions to almost 1 million followers.
“Well feel for the officials, they’ve been conned,” Barton tweeted. “Admitted to me at HT they never saw it. I was pulled back 1st, then kicked 2nd.
“Linesman definitely never saw it, all he seen was Johnsons reaction. My head dosent move forward at all. Ridiculous decision seen 25 replays.
“I’d be 1st to apologise if I’d reacted. Cannot apologise as I know I’ve not head butted anyone. Disappointed for the lads and the fans.”
With another three points collected and his stock continuing to rise Lambert concentrated his thoughts on what his players did on the park.
The former Celtic skipper said: “I thought the lads deserved to win the game. We started really well and got a foothold, then QPR scored against the run of play, but we kept on going.
“It is relentless, but we have coped brilliantly to this time. The lads have been great, they seem a really close group and we are all in together.
“We will take one game at a time now, and if this club survives in its first year, it will be monumental for us.”

barton did exactly the same thing to Gervino of Arsenal, opening game of the season, and admitted it afterwards. he is a first class ‘richard-head’
Paul’s doing a great job, i doubt there’s anything that Barton could say that’d get a reaction from Lambert. When you play in Glasgow you develop a thick skin & i’m sure he had a wee chuckle at the clown.
Barton is a cheat. He is also a liar and I don’t see anyone having sympathy for him. I hope he tries to take this further as he said he will, but we all know he lies and won’t do anything. Can you just imagine how any defence would rip his credibility apart?
