Wilson set for Leeds loan deal

Mark Wilson is poised to sign a loan deal with Leeds United until the end of the season.

The 27-year-old was signed from Dundee United five years ago by Gordon Strachan for £500,000 but has been plagued by injury throughout his hoops career.

Exactly a year ago Wilson found his best form at Celtic after coming into the side to replace Cha Du-Ri who was at the Asian Cup with South Korea.

Wilson scored his first Celtic goal in the 3-1 win at Aberdeen a year ago before making a memorable contribution to the Scottish Cup success.

While Alex Salmond felt that Celtic’s 1-0 win over Rangers warranted a summit and new legislation Wilson celebrated scoring the only goal of the game with a memorable sclaff.

Not to be put off he followed that up by laying on an own goal for Stephen Craigan in the cup final as Celtic lifted the trophy at Hampden.

Wilson’s last competitive game for Celtic was in the 0-0 draw at home to Hibs in October.

With Mikel Lustig joining Cha and Adam Matthews Neil Lennon has plenty of cover at right-back.

Last week he made his return from injury in a development side match away to Leeds but it’s believed that other Championship sides are showing interest including Bristol City who are managed by ex- St Johnstone boss Derek McInnes.

Celtic youngsters James Keatings and Lewis Toshney are expected to complete loan moves to St Johnstone and Kilmarnock.
