Sacked manager blames twitter for slow poisoning

Sacked QPR boss Neil Warnock believes that twitter played a major role in his downfall!

Warnock was the first Premiership manager to be sacked in 2012 with both his chairman, Tony Fernadez, and captain, Joey Barton, prolific on the social network.

Former Celtic boss Gordon Strachan never hid his dislike of radio phone-ins but with social networks allowing absolutely anyone a say twitter is now setting the agenda with old-school Warnock blaming twitter for poisoning his situation at the club.

Fernandez claimed that player power was a factor in Warnock’s sacking with the outspoken Yorkshireman highly critical of his former boss.

It’s a dangerous precedent if you let players talk to the chairman but, you know, you can’t stop tweeting,” Warnock warned. “My chairman tweets a lot and some of my players tweet.

“I know the influence he’ll have had from certain people over the past few weeks.

“It would have been difficult to resist because people get on the phone and tweet and it’s almost like slowly poisoning somebody from outside the club and no doubt from within the club as well.

“Players only look after themselves so it’s quite easy to start rumours for  with this new modern media and I don’t think it helps anybody.”
