Steve Lomas newsSt Johnstone boss Steve Lomas has hit out at the way Craig Whyte is running Rangers.

The former Manchester City and West Ham midfielder has never hidden his support for Rangers but is angry at the way they have handled their interest in Francisco Sandaza.

Ally McCoist went public after Rangers defeated Arbroath to confirm his interest in the striker then went into more detail about a pre-contract offer for Sandaza 24 hours ahead of playing St Johnstone.

Lomas didn’t name any names but there was no doubting that the clubs’ billionaire chairman Whyte was the target of his anger.

“I do believe there should be a bit more leadership from the top at Rangers,” the St Johnstone boss said.

“Ally McCoist has got a difficult job because of the finances and he has had to follow Walter Smith, who is a legend, so he has a tough job but this wouldn’t happen if David Murray was at the club, he wouldn’t let it.

“Rangers are a big club but unfortunately they are behaving like a little one. We haven’t even had an offer.

“As a boy, I was a Rangers fan. They are great fans, the Rangers fans, and I’m sure they must be feeling slightly miffed that they can’t go out and pay for Fran Sandaza.

“I would be worried, especially a guy who is in the last months of his contract. I would be extremely worried if I was a Rangers fan.”

Their fans are great????? does lomas live in the dark ages…. Lord all mighty. Could you imagine the outcry if Lenny was talkin about another teams player the way sally has been. Lomas should have been more concerned with the validity of scotlands shames first “goal”

  • I thought that was a paid advertisement when I first read it.The Shame are really on their knees now.Anything to distract you away from the main stories at hand.

Joe,are there not rules to prevent managers of clubs talking publicly about other clubs’ players?
It has been pointed out recently that McCoist is making this a particularly annoying habit.
Is he and his club outside the rules of the game?
    Sorry, don’t answer that.

    Totally agree with martybhoy.

If Lennon spoke about signing players at other clubs the laptop loyal would have a seizure.

Fat Ally is a proper embarrassment when it comes to signing players, he talks about who he wants then looks a clown because they don’t want to come or he can’t afford them.
