Terry Butcher has pointed at Georgios Samaras as the root of the bad feeling between Celtic and Inverness Caley Thistle.
The former Coventry, Sunderland and Brentford boss watched his side lose to Celtic for the fourth time this season with defender Steve Williams sent off for two yellow card offences.
Caley Thistle had enjoyed a one man advantage for 17 minutes after the sending off of Daniel Majstorovic with Butcher gutted at losing again to Celtic with Samaras again the target of his anger.
Greg Tansey was sent off in November for an incident involving Samaras with the former England skipper unable to resist reviving that incident.
“My own player has already been booked and he leaves a leg in and Samaras is in the incident which gets one of my players sent off again,” Butcher said.
“Maybe it’s coincidence. I am not blaming him (Samaras), I am just saying he was involved in the incident.
He said: “I am pleased with my players’ performance but very disappointed that we didn’t get something from the match.
“I don’t think we ever have a better chance of getting so mething from Celtic Park than today, particularly when Celtic went down to 10 men.We didn’t capitalise on it and didn’t do enough.”

Huh? Can anyone translate this for me? What does he mean? He’s annoyed because his players are always fouling Samaras… or something. He’s angry at Samaras, or not, and uh…it’s all just really unfair…
boo hoo….
‘terry butcher blames georgios samaras’ – “i’m not blaming him (samaras)”
When is Butcher going to get proper punishment for his CONSTANT critisism of refs, opposition players & managers? I guess if you where R@ngers captain you get a life long license to say what you want. He should face the fact he is partly responsible for his team being crap.
“Maybe it’s coincidence. I am not blaming him (Samaras), I am just saying he was involved in the incident.
Headline reads like a red top loyal tabloid, contradicting what was actually said. Don’t degenerate to their level.
you got nothing from the match because you aint good enough. Try playing football instead of kicking teams of the park.
If I was a supporter of one of the other ten teams out with Celtic and Rangers I don’t think I would be to happy at having a ex rangers player in charge. Butcher gets cheated at ibrox no problem ref done ok all smiles, gets beat of Celtic not very happy possibly missing his case of wine from moonbeams.
McCall at Motherwell scoring record against rangers is shocking not to mention not putting a tackle in.
You’ve got to wonder where their allegiance lies.
Just saying like.
Fair points Stevie, the thought has crossed many minds before. These guys you mentioned, let so much of their inner thoughts slip when they play Celtic.
The anger in defeat is uncontrollable as is the joy they exude when they get a result.
The level of performance against us is visibly raised.
ICT looked decent yesterday.
ICT certinaly did do well against us yesterday. I just can’t help wondering if I noticed this how many ICT also noticed it and possibly don’t attend. That’s the danger of having an ex ger in charge.
Our media SFA SPL and teams are full of ex gers disproportionately and look where our games at.
Keep taking the tablets Terry….
He said: “I am pleased with my players’ performance
“I don’t think we ever have a better chance of getting something from Celtic Park than today, particularly when Celtic went down to 10 men.We didn’t capitalise on it and didn’t do enough.”
Being hard to beat is the EASY bit, the trick is actually doing the WINNING and clearly you ain’t got it.
p.s. Have you paid for that door yet 🙂
How is he pointing the finger at Samaras when he expressly states ‘…I’m not blaming him…’?
Rickster it aint rocket science if he wasnt trying to malign Samaras then why did he mention him at all.
Its the same old rubbish you always hear/read when a player or manager says I am not trying to get the player sent of and the out comes the but followed by why in this instance they should be.
Once in a blue moon you get someone with the guts to just say what they mean instead of playing games as Butcher has in this case.
Same old terry he really hates getting beat off the hoops his team go ibrox have a clear penalty turned down and a perfectly good goal chopped off and he says nothing but any decision that goes against his team when they play Celtic and his toys go out the pram we all know your still a hun at heart and to be quite honest your comments after every Celtic game are starting to piss me off.
What I saw yesterday was a team trying to kick Celtic off the park you got what you deserved NOTHING !!!!
Yeah just an old an outdated mind trick picked up from the sith lord.Smith. As well as deflection tatic’s to use on his own’s team’s supporter’s to mask how shite his managerial skill’s are.all he could do as a player was kick ankle’s and bully and thats all the expertise he has to offer as a manager.
