Craig Brown has beaten Neil Lennon to the Clydesdale Bank Manager of the Month award for January!
Despite winning all five matches during the month to stretch their lead at the top of the SPL to four points and reach the final of the League Cup the Celtic boss was overlooked by the voting panel.
In four SPL matches in January the dandy Dons rattled in four goals as they won two and drew two matches either side of a 4-0 win at Forfar in the Scottish Cup.
In their two home matches during that run Aberdeen drew 0-0 at home with Kilmarnock before beating Dunfermline 1-0 with those fixtures drawing a combined crowd of less than 17,000 fans.
Celtic had only one home fixture in January, beating Dundee United at home 2-1, in-between away wins over Dunfermline, Peterhead, St Mirren and at Hampden over Falkirk.
Scott Brown was voted Player of the Month but after winning five matches in January without picking up the bosses award itβs difficult to imagine in what areas Lennon can improve on to win the February award.
Feckin’ joke…
Unless there’s a rule says you can’t win it two months in a row….
Still….. Lenny don’t need an award….
We know he’s the best…
Non issue. Clearly it was the wrong decision but as long as we keep our heads and continue to do what we’ve been doing for months now and bag the title from the manky mob this May, I won’t give a hoot who’s won the manager of the month award, Craig Brown can scoop up manager for the year for all I care as long as we’re champions.
Who cares a diddly? Good old Craig Broon. Give him player of the month next time, he’s a lovely old chap.
its cos they’re trying to take the media spin away from lennon’s run, they know it would be painful to their ears if all the mainstream media like skysportsnews and bbcsport media talked about for the rest of the season was celtic’s amazing form, giving us more confidence and control over the league. its great to know the h##’s are hurting
Of course he did. Can you imagine the meetings that the last award would have generated? Crisis talks all over!
Hi……I’m a debt expert……….
Well wee Craigie can add that to all the other medals he’s won. Wait…
We and most people around the country know who deserves it. I’ll take the title thank you very much.
dont think lenny would give a monkeys regarding manager of the month awards. His reaction after our 2nd and 3rd goals went in at swine castle said it all. Hope the hoop’s can keep him jumping for joy like that until the season’s over.
The SPL manager of the month is based on results in the SPL – ie. not the cup, so why are you mentioning that?
Given that we only played 3 SPL matches in January, and Aberdeen played 4 – including drawing with Rangers at Ibrox and beating Dundee Utd away from home, then it’s hardly a shock for Brown to win manager of the month is it?
We continued a good run of form, but were expected to win those 3 games anyway, whereas Aberdeen picked up points that showed an improvement on the previous month and against opposition that were doing better than them generally.
If we hadn’t beaten St. Mirren it would’ve been a shocking result, so you can hardly give someone manager of the month because we win.
Sorry, but I don’t see the problem – pretty pointless article.
In fairness, isn’t the manager of the month decided on how a team has performed in a month compared to the rest of the season?
i.e. if Aberdeen have been crap all season, then have one good month, is that not as likely to result in a manager of the month award as a team like Celtic winning every game? Not definitely sure though..
I think we all know that it’s the wrong decision after all, but Lenny can’t get too many awards.. It’ll become a timsparacy π
I couldn’t give two fecks about their crap awards only three awards I want to see
(make mine a treble) MTH
I used to be a terrible sleeper… Now I sleep like a baby… Thanks Lenny and the Bhoys π HAIL HAIL
