Majstorovic: I will do everything to get back

Daniel Majstorovic has vowed to bounce back from the injury horror that rules him out of Celtic’s treble bid and the European Championships.

The 34-year-old damaged the cruciate ligament in his left knee yesterday during a training session ahead of Sweden’s friendly against Croatia tonight.

Majstorovic will learn the full extent of the injury in the next week with Celtic in close contact with the Swedish FA about the injury.

The defender has played all over Europe in his career and is determined to come back from injury despite the added agony of missing out on a trip to Poland and Ukraine at the end of the season.

“I’ve been looking forward to the European Championships for a long time and it hurts to realise I’ll miss it,” he admitted.

“But I will do everything to get back as soon as possible. I feel I still have much to offer on the football field and do not want to give up my career just for this.

“At the same time I have respect that this is a serious injury and it will take a lot of hard work to come back.

“Right now I just want to make sure I get the best treatment as soon as possible and then start my rehabilitation.”

Majstorovic will be 35 next month and is out of contract with Celtic at the end of the season.

Celtic full-back Mikael Lustig is in the Swedish squad for tonight’s match in Zagreb.
