Neil Lennon couldn’t have been happier as he described Celtic’s 4-0 win over Hearts as devastating.
Four different scorers found the back of the net as Celtic hit top gear to go four points clear of financially troubled Rangers in the race for the SPL title.
Scott Brown opened the scoring 33 seconds after a fantastic save from Fraser Forster denied Stephen Elliott an opener for the home side.
Further first half goals from Victor Wanyama and Joe Ledley put Celtic in easy street before Gary Hooper completed the scoring midway through the second half.
“I thought that we were devastating,” the Celtic boss said immediately after the final whistle. “That was as good as we’ve played here.
“We’re getting better and better and I think that this there is more to come from this team. I couldn’t be more proud of them.
“We scored four going on six or seven tonight, the mood that the players were in was great tonight, that’s what Celtic teams are all about.”
Turning to his captain, Scott Brown, who scored for the fourth game running, Lennon added: “Scott is pain free and I know what I’ve got in him.
“Probably more than anyone he got me the job, he’s a great leader and he’s proven that as we go along.”
devestating, well said. performances from all over the pitch, hope the English dont fancy Lenny for the job, lol. Getting the job done at this stage in the season is the priority, entertainment as we’ve just witnessed a bonus
Scintillating Celtic tonight, excellent all round performance!
I got the feeling we had another gear if needed & a massive improvement from our last time there.
We’ve built an impressive momentum that really keeps the heat in ragers!
Let the people sing!!
Last October,I was one of the many Hoops fans who thought that Lennon was not up to the job at Celtic.
I was wrong,Neil is no longer a rookie manager, he has matured, my god has the matured in such a short timescale. He has undoubtably learnt from his mistakes last season.
His team selections, his tactics, and his handling of the players; have all been instrumental in our unbeaten run, and our quest for the treble.
There’s only one Neil Lennon
Hail Hail
In the hope that the great ulster man see’s this. Well done pal you were robbed last year by darker powers your team selections and acquistions have been outstanding but MOST OF ALL The men that pull on a CELTIC shirt want to win for you.
AND because I believe that YOU represent us. HAIL HAIL.
Aye Seaney, I do agree the dark powers did us no favours last season, but the title was in our own hands, we lost it,rather than the bigotdome winning it. Inverness stands out,we fielded the wrong team for that match, coupled with the stupid many points dropped at Celtic Park.
All water under the bridge now, mine’s a treble.
Hail Hail
I too believed that Lenny was out of his depth. I thought he should have stood aside to save getting the sack which would have delighted many in Scotland.
I was completely wrong and feel he has improved greatly as a manager. He appears more confident and tactically flexible.
He was right this is just the begining. He has the team playing well and Brown is finally showing why he is at Celtic. Here’s hoping Lennon/Brown becomes this generations Stein/McNeil.
What impresses me most of all is the youth that Lenny has brought in. His transfer record has been exceptional so far.
Other than that, his ability to get the best out of players is astounding. The improvement in players like Forster, Brown, Mulgrew and Dan shows Lenny has definitely picked up some of O’Neills man management techniques!
