SNP comment on Rangers tax case

Shona Robison SNP newsThe Scottish government have stepped into the Rangers crisis that saw the club announce that they are looking to go into administration.

Sports Minister Shona Robison expressed the hope that a resolution could be arrived at between HMRC and the club.

Financial problems have dogged the club since Craig Whyte paid £1 to buy out Sir David Murray’s 83% shareholding in the club.

Details of a £24m loan from Ticketus, the sale of Nikica Jelavic and the failure to publish audited accounts for the year to June 2011 culminated in today’s decision to apply for administration before the announcement of an HMRC tribunal.

With an independence referendum at the top of the Scottish political agenda the scope for conflict between Westminster and Holyrood is obvious with the SNP putting their support behind Rangers as they prepare to deal with a tax bill that the club today admitted could be ‘substantially more than the £50 million reported which the Club would be unable to pay.’

Speaking at the launch of ‘The Take Life On’ programme relating to the Commonwealth Games, Robison said: “I understand that Rangers and HMRC are continuing dialogue and we obviously want to see an agreement which will protect jobs and enable the club to stay in business.

“Rangers is a crucial part of Scotland’s national game, and our interest is ensuring that a resolution can be arrived at between HMRC and the club to deliver these vital objectives.”

Well, there we have it, statements from Salmond and Celtic illustrating my points.

The SNP posters have as specific on the facts as whyte hs been on ticketus, mirrors and smoke.

Politic types really cant see the wood fore the mantra can they?

Nothing about equality now, its special treatment for tax dodgers.

There are even ragers fans up in arms about the disappearing season ticket money, that a day or so ago were content to see you, me and the puvlic purse stiffed!

And alex still encourages and negotiates special treatment!

Try withholding your own tax, ni and vat and see how you get on.

When questioned you could always call friend in salmond!

If James Connolly was leading SNP they’d get my vote!

I have to say to draw any comparison between a giant of a man with immense intellect, courage & moral fortitude in Connolly to the SNP is beyond ludicrous!!!

Gerry D you are and intelligent lad as I’m aware.
A nice guy …….. Im afraid maybe due to my age but we differ certainly in politics . I also realise when taking politics out of the equation we have much in common as Celts.

Many times over the years you have commplimented me by calling me MR ..That maybe gives you a clue to who I am .. As you know I would always feel embarrasment at that accolade.
The truth is out their outside the propaganda Pravda BBC and media in general.
A media we know as Celts that cannot be trusted.
A media however that certain Celts fall for when unionism is at stake..

Regards P2 and the vatican being a different sort of beast?

I have already said organisations of that sort (ALL) have no place in my mindset.. I loathe them all.
Often in my life wrongdoing by Celtic minded people in power has been vindicated by some of us as follows.. He /she is wan o’ us nae bother .

Sorry we are better that that as a people .

Wrongdoing and slanderous comments deserves a loathing by us all.
I said earlier, when loathing bigotry and badness against us and other sects the replies by some show a nievity that suggests bigotry is not onesided.
As Celts we should be bigger than that . The majority are.. Thank goodness.

The acceptance on radio (media) of Celtic supporters from mainstream politics and business showing sympathy for THEM I disagree with. I will not disown them. I believe they are wrong but so be it.
Kelly that despicable man whose only thing in life was bringing our club to near certain closure .. I see Matt McGlone put him in his place newsnight Scotland.. Kelly and his sympathy and from this unionist would make you boke. Discredited and much more ..

On another Celtic website we have a wee bit of poetry
Starts about the HEARSE arriving at Celtic Park ( Paradise) in our troubled times..
Anyone who lived through that time will have no sympathy for THEM .. PERIOD … FULL STOP.

I would allege that unminted and whyte are both up to their eyes in the tactics being used to escape financial payments. I allege the sfa have much to answer also..

Much can be read on Celtic Cyberspace that covers my short comment above.

It would surprise me if EUFA and possibly FIFA are not watching developments from afar..
I allege all that has happened since whyte became the controller over the last 9 months has been buying time to bury £ millions. Money scattered in a world wide scam to plead poverty.

    Hail Hail fellow Celts…

Gerry D I know you are a nice guy.. Your first post though was I know out of character.

    Hibs today may I add:
Neil our manager and a thoroughly nice guy will hopefully make the team forget the going ons at that place. Hopefully as it will be necessary for the continuity of our progress.

The GB I hold my hand up to the change that has taken place with their overall backing for my team, your team Celtic..
Hopefully and I have no doubt their change in behaviour will continue unlike Ibrox and the obsceneties heard yesterday..

David, if you do know me , you will realise that one of my many faults is to shoot from the hip. I know that can cause difficulties but I’m not for changing.

Indeed the older I get the more clear the picture becomes with regard to my beloved hoops in our peculiar country.

I am delighted to see a collective ability for Celts regardless of pressures to stand up for themselves, unashamed of what we stand for. There’s no need to be!

Ive often said we sometimes have an unfortunate tendancy toward ‘Stockholm syndrome’ in having strange sympathies for those who would persecute us,I see glaring examples of it in recent times. SNP are a glaring example.

Whilst realising that religion and politics are great taboo’s for discusiion, I intend to duck neither if it’s against my/our interest.

Thank you for your kind words, which I’m happy to accept in good spirit although I’m not sure in what way I deserve them.

Great result today, Celtic fans were quite a sight from the Main Stand.

And on that point, the abuse from the home support, spouted towards anyone believed to be in any way ‘Weegie’ is some of the most vile and wicked Ive had the misfortune to endure and that’s said having sat in the home end at ibrox a couple of times.

David (MR), I’m not hard to find, say hi in whatever way you can.

    HH
